An intensive course which teaches the techniques of building, carving and modelling clay. The participants will be taken through anatomy, form, texture and will develop an understanding of portraiture through sculptural expression. There will be emphasis on development of observational skills leading to learning of modelling a clay head. All tools and equipment will be provided. Sculptures will be fired in our kiln and can be collected 3-4 weeks after the workshop.
You will be given a detailed introduction to sculpting which would give you an idea about replicating intricate details of human anatomy onto clay and creating products applying these concepts. The course is divided into 8 sessions and the participants are free to use the studio facility for the completion of their work.
Day1, June 2nd: Introduction to sculpting and sketching. Understanding animal forms and its complexities.
Day 2, June 9th: Expressing the animal form in clay.
Day 3, June 16th: Proportion study and sketching.
Day 4,June 23rd: Creating a mask taking natural inspirations.
Day 5, June 30th: Potrait study on tiles.
Day 6, July 7th: Potrait study on tiles.
Day 7, July 14th: Applying techniques learnt to create a model.
Day8, July 21st: Completion of model.
